Singulair is a prescription medicine intended to help control asthma and relieve the symptoms of indoor and outdoor allergies in adults and children. It is one of the most prescribed drugs with sales of more than $2. What evidence is there linking Singulair to birth defects. Congenital limb defects have been reported in the babies of women who took Singulair during pregnancy. Although a causal connection between Singulair and these birth defects has not been established, there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women that rule a connection out. Why advertise for cases if a causal connection has not been shown. History has taught us that when a drug company admits there might be a problem with one of its drugs, there usually is, and the company knows more than it is telling the public. For instance, Merck, the manufacturer of Singulair, also made Vioxx, and we know now that the company knew Vioxx increases the risk of heart attacks years before admitting to it and withdrawing the drug from the market. There must be scientifically valid evidence of a causal link between Singulair and congenital limb defects before litigation against Merck is justified. However, as more women who took Singulair during pregnancy report defects in their babies, the causal connection becomes more likely. If you took Singulair during pregnancy, and your baby has limb deformities, let us know, even if you are not interested in pursuing a case, because your experience can help build a database that will help others. What are you going to do with cases where the mom took Singulair during pregnancy, and the baby has limb deformity. For now, we are gathering information from parents who might become our clients if causation can be established, and we are continuing our investigation. We cannot promise more at this time, other than to keep you informed if you provide us with information relating to a potential claim. We will also ask your permission to complete an Adverse Event Report on your behalf and submit it to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). How do I tell you my Singulair story or get more information. Contact Us or call us toll free at 800-822-5667, or fill out an information form |
